Trailside Beanie Free Knit Pattern
Beanie season is just around the corner here in New York (didn’t summer just start?!?). This quick knit beanie is a must have for those chilly days.
Supplies:
US 11 (8.0mm) 16 inch circular knitting needles
Super Bulky Yarn of choice, I used Malabrigo Rasta in Cucumber
Tape Measure
Yarn Needle
Stitch Marker
Pattern Notes:
Beanie is knit in the round from the bottom up.
Adult one size fits all.
Beginner friendly
Gauge 12 stitches x 14 rows for 4 inch x 4 inch square
Abbreviations:
K - Knit P - Purl rep - Repeat sts - Stitches
K2tog - knit 2 stitches together P2tog - purl 2 stitches together
Pattern:
Cast on 48 sts. Join in the round taking care not to twist stitches and place stitch marker.
Rounds 1-6: (K1, P1) rep to end of round
Round 7: Knit
Round 8: (K3, P3) rep to end of round
Round 9: (K1, P1) rep to end of round
Repeat rounds 8 and 9 until piece measures 8 1/2 inches from the cast on edge.
Decrease Round 1: (K2tog, K1, P2tog, P1) rep to end of round (32 sts)
Decrease Round 2: (K2tog) rep to end of round (16 sts)
Decrease Round 3: (k2tog) rep to end of round (8 sts)
Cut yarn and pull through remaining loops, pull tight and weave in ends.
