Pumpkin Soap Saver Knit Pattern
Autumn is my most favorite time of the year. I love everything about it, the colors, the smells and of course all the pumpkins!
With craft shows right around the corner this cute little pumpkin soap saver is perfect to make those handmade soaps last longer, give it as a gift or even make some to have at your own table.
SUPPLIES:
US #7 (4.5mm) double pointed or circular knitting needles
Worsted weight 100% cotton yarn of choice in Orange and Green
Yarn needle
Stitch marker
Crochet hook (optional)
PATTERN NOTES:
Each cozy takes approximately 40 yards
My gauge for a 4x4 square was 20 stitches x 26 rows
Finished size 4 in. wide x 6 1/2 in. tall
ABBREVIATIONS:
K - Knit P - Purl K2tog - Knit two stitches together
sts - Stitches rep - Repeat yo - yarn over
PATTERN:
Cast on 36 sts. in Orange and join in the round taking care not to twist your stitches. Place marker to mark the beginning of round.
Round 1: (K1, P1) rep to end of round
Round 2: (K3, P3) rep to end of round
Repeat rounds 1 & 2 until piece measures 4 1/2 in. it doesn’t matter what round you end with.
Knit 1 round
Change to Green and begin working on the stem
Round 1: Knit
Round 2: (K2tog, yo) rep to end of round (36 sts.)
Round 3-7: (K2, P2) rep to end of round
Bind off
Seam the bottom of the bag and weave in ends.
Using Green for the drawstring you can knit an icord or crochet a chain to desired length. I crocheted a chain approx. 12 in. and then knotted the 2 ends together so it can be hung up in the shower. You could choose to make it longer and instead of knotting it tie a bow.
Weave the drawstring through the eyelet holes, Stuff with your favorite handmade soap and enjoy!
