Lit Crochet Garland with Fairy Lights

Super fast and easy, you can whip out this garland in one night (depending on the length of fairy lights you’re using I suppose) and with any yarn you have on hand!

You can make this garland with almost any set of fairy lights, or even regular Christmas lights if you want to! I purchased these lights from Amazon. These are 99 feet long! If you can’t picture 99 feet in your head… let me help you… it’s a freaking lot! So these lights would be ideal if you plan to use the garland on your Christmas tree. They are available in multiple colors and lengths, they’re battery operated and they come with a remote so you can not only use them anywhere, but you can turn them on and off from the comfort of your couch so you won’t have to set your knitting or crocheting down to add some nice holiday ambience to your space. Is that amazing or is that amazing? I wish every device in my house came with a remote.

For yarn I used a full roll of Caron Simply Soft Party yarn in the color Rich Red Sparkle and a size i crochet hook. You could easily use any yarn you have on hand, just adjust the crochet hook size accordingly. You may need to test it out a few times to get the desired look.

You could get super creative with this idea and try it with lots of different yarns. I haven’t used fun fur in years but I feel like this may be the perfect project for it.

Lit Crochet Garland

Supplies:

Stitches Used:

  • Single Crochet

  • Bobble – * Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through two. * (This is essentially completing the first half of one double crochet stitch.) Repeat from * to * until you have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over, pull through all 5 loops.

To Start:

Join yarn with a single crochet to the beginning of lighted string, closest to the battery pack.

*Single crochet 10-20 (I started with 10 then stopped counting and just eyeballed it). Chain 1, work 1 bobble into the edge of the previous single crochet stitch. Repeat from * to the end of your strand of lights!

And that is it people. Easy peasy beautiful holiday cheer on the cheap.
