Easy Crochet Dish Cloth Set

Since we’ve been at this pattern business one thing has been consistently popular- knit dishcloths. A set of 2 or 3 makes the perfect gift for friends, mothers, new homeowners and more. They consistently sell well at craft fairs no matter what season it is, and they are fast satisfying items to whip up. So in an effort to bring you more crochet counterparts for our most popular knit items… we bring you this easy crochet Dishcloth set. It’s time for some crochet kitchen accessories around here!

These cloths work up so fast, and the light airy cotton makes them the perfect little project to carry along in your bag on hot summer days. I used Premier Home Cotton which you can find here. It comes in more than 50 colors, and is also available in large cones perfect for the mass-maker. I used the lemon peel stitch, which is a mix of simple double crochet and single crochet stitches that works up surprisingly quickly and just happens to be one of my most favorite stitches.

You can easily substitute different colors for the stripes to match any kitchen!

Pair these with any of our FREE PRINTABLE dish cloth wraps to make an easy gift or great display at your next craft fair! Click the pictures below to print your own.

Materials:

  • One roll of Premier Home Cotton in the following colors: White, Pastel Blue, Guava, and Sunflower

    • Note: I bought the 700 yard cone in white, and one 131 yard roll of each other color and it was enough to make all three dishcloths and a matching hand towel!

  • Size H (5.00mm) crochet hook

  • Stitch Marker (optional)

Stitches:

  • Chain (CH)

  • Double Crochet (DC)

  • Single Crochet (SC)

  • Slip Stitch (SL ST)

Easy Crochet Dish Cloth

1: With White, CH 31. SC in the second CH from hook. *DC, SC* repeat from * to * across until you have one stitch remaining. DC in last ST. (30 ST) CH 1, turn.

2: *SC, DC* across. CH 1, turn.

3-5: Repeat row 2, switching to your stripe color at the end of row 5.

6-7: Repeat row 2, switch back to white a the end of row 7.

8-26: Repeat row 2.

At this point, if you’re happy with the dishcloth as is you can fasten off, weave in ends and you’re good to go! A border is absolutely not necessary at all.

However if you’d like a smoother more finished look around the edges (my photos all include the border) you can follow these instructions:

CH 1 and without turning your work, SL ST along the side edge of the dishcloth. Continue to SL ST around all 4 sides until you get back to your first SL ST. Fasten off and weave in ends.
