Covid Conversation Heart Squares
We are thinking about Valentine’s Day! Yes, we are halfway through January and Valentine’s Day is creeping up…
To be honest I have never cared much about Valentines Day. It’s at the bottom of the holiday totem pole in my opinion. But it’s easy to get excited about it when you have a young child who’s watching episodes of tv shows where they’re cutting out paper hearts and doing crafts with heart shaped paper doilies, sharing candy with friends and doing pretty much everything cute and fun about Valentines Day.
So I was thinking about it and wondering what it will be like this year… socially distanced Valentines Day… what even is that? Zoom dates? Fancy takeout at home? Then I thought of this corny, cute idea. Or at least, my lame attempt to bring some joy to an other wise crappy situation…
Covid Conversation Hearts!
Everybody knows the classic conversation hearts right? Those tiny little colorful hearts with cutesy little sayings like “kiss me” and “be mine.” So I decided to make some afghan squares inspired by these classic conversation hearts, but with a twist!
Square #1: I <3 TP
Who didn’t find a new love and appreciation for toilet paper this year!? If you love TP, scroll on down for the pattern! I think I will add a border to the square but haven’t decided yet. There are plenty more squares to come and lots of time to figure that out! What would you write on your Covid Conversation Heart? Let us know in the comments below!

For the lettering I did a slip stitch on top of the square using the Bubble Gum pink and H crochet hook.
This tutorial is really useful when getting started with top stitching
